The new range of printing and finishing equipment provides greater customization and modular upgrade options in the region.

Rotocon has launched its new Chrome range of printing and finishing equipment in Sub-Saharan Africa. This new series of machines provides label and flexible packaging printers with greater customization and modular upgrade options to expand their market reach. Chrome follows Rotocon’s Ecoline range of printing and finishing equipment, which was launched in 2017 when the company identified a need for good quality-built machines. The product features solid, vibration-free construction, an open design, easy-to-use control panel, and the latest technology to maximize operator friendliness, which is affordable for start-ups and medium-size converting companies. The success and proven reliability track record of the Ecoline range, and the changing needs beyond the self-adhesive labelling industry, have triggered the launch of Chrome to ensure both versatility and affordability. Rotocon can tailor-make its Chrome machines with more converting options at an attractive price level/capital outlay cost and quality level that rivals international market standards. “As part of our long-term partnership approach and commitment to providing exceptional service and after-sales support, we have listened to customers’ requests for more customized solutions,” states Rotocon’s founder and CEO, Michael Aengenvoort. “We can develop each Chrome model according to their specifications to successfully run a wider range of materials and applications.” For converters serving the wine industry, Rotocon can customize the Chrome RDF (Rotocon Digital Finishing) embellishment package accordingly to include cold and hot foiling, embossing, and rotary screen printing to produce top-notch finished labels. For printing stretchable unsupported films, Rotocon offers an advanced drive package for the Chrome RFP (Rotocon Flexo Press) to produce better results across multiple substrates (20 to 600µm), faster setup times, and a wider range of packaging application possibilities. Similarly, the Chrome RSI (vertical) and RSH (horizontal) slitting, inspection, and rewinder systems can feature this upgraded drive system to rewind tension-sensitive filmic materials such as shrink, BOPP, and PET at output rates of up to 320 m/m. Additionally, specifying it with an automatic slitting system instead of using a manual crush knife or razor slitting will help improve production efficiencies. The Ecoline and Chrome machines are developed and manufactured in the China–Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) area and overseen by Michael Wang, managing director and shareholder of Rotocon Asia. “We are excited that the first Chrome RDF digital printed label converting and finishing system has been installed and commissioned at a label converting operation in Cape Town,” Aengenvoort concludes.
